There's new rumors circulating about the flagship Lego Technic set for 2010.
According to some sources that claim to have seen a 2010 toy dealers catalogue that the flagship set for 2010 will be a Power Functions Remote controlled Excavator.
Some spec's being rumored
- Yellow
- Tracks
- 4 Linear Actuator's
- 4 Medium Motor's
- 2 Receiver's
- 2 Remote's
It's not clear how each of the bits would be used. I would reckon 2 LA's will control the main boom, 1 for the stick, and one for the bucket. One motor would control each of the movements, with one motor to turn the upper portion of excavator. This leaves nothing to control the tracks unfortunately. It's possible the tracks will be controlled by some kind of sliding clutch type assembly but this would involve complicated gearing between the tracks and the main structure.
It seems Lego are listening to their customers who have frequently asked for a fully remote controlled Power Functions model.
I predict something along the lines of the Lego Technic Excavator (set 8851) from 1984.
