While browsing YouTube I came across a load test video for the Technic Linear Actuators. From the video we can see they can push up to 3.6kg of pressure before the internal clutch kicks in. The internal clutch prevents the actuators from being damaged. Without them an XL motor could cause the actuators to destroy themselves.
