New Lego Technic Part for 2011 – Mini Linear Actuator (mLa) (part 92637c01)

With the new Lego Technic Backhoe Loader (set 8069), Lego introduced the new Mini / Micro Linear Actuator.  Retracted, the mLa is 7 studs long, 2 studs wide, and 1 stud depth.  Extended the mLa is 11 studs long. Under load the mLa can exert about 900grams of pressure before the clutch kicks in.

First Lego Product Recall? Power Functions IP Speed Remote Control Recalled

July 22nd, 2009

Lego today announced a product recall on the Lego Power Functions IR Speed remote control unit (set 8879). It seems the battery's may over heat and cause a "burn hazard".  The recall covers controllers bought between April 2009 and May 2009 and is through to only affect around 1,000 units.

At this stage only 4 of them have been reported to overheat but Lego has announced a voluntary product recall.

The only way to purchase this part has been direct from Lego - as such lego knows who's bought all the controllers.  Lego will be contacting all owners directly in the next few days in order to exchange the part for a new one.

New Parts and set Inventory from the Crane Truck (set 8258)

The Technic Lego Crane Truck (set 8258) parts inventory has been added to Peeron here.  There's also new high resolution images of the front, inside and back of the box.

Amongst the new set are 5 new parts which are detailed below.  There's also 9 new Lego Technic panels but I'm not too interested in them.  If you are, they can be found on the set inventory.

Technic Beam 5 x 11 with Open Centre 3 x 7 (part 64178)

This part forms part of the inner structure of the truck and gives it rigidity

Given the layout of the axle holes it would have been impossible to build this out of existing parts

Again this part forms part of the inner structure of the truck and gives it rigidity.

Technic Wheel 62.4 x 20 S Type II with Short Axle hole (Part 86652)

This is exactly the same as existing wheel 32020 but has a shorter axle hole.  Who knows why they've changed it ever so slightly.

Technic Gear Rack 1 x 13 with holes and axle holes (part 647811)

This is a very odd part with it's holes going in one direction and axle holes at 90 degrees.
