New Technic Lego set for 2009 – Crane Truck (8258)

: New Lego Technic Set 8258

The new Lego Technic Lego Crane Truck looks like it will be the biggest set for 2008. Parts will be in the region of 1,800 with a cost of about £100. These figures make it this years BIG set like the Lego Technic Buldozer from 2009.

Update - the set is now availabel from Lego Shop At Home website

From the early images the set will include

8 wheels
4 wheel steer
4 stabaliser legs
steering via the hazard light on the roof
one M-Motor, switch and battery box
possibly 3 or 4 of the new liniar actuators (like pneumatic cyclinders)

Again from the image it looks like the motor will power the stabaliser legs and the finctions of the crane - rotate, lift and extend.

It looks like there might be some new body pannel style parts wih this model, but nothing else.

This will be on my must-buy list as soon it is released.

Given the recomended age range is 11-16 years old it's going to be a technicle and complicated build.

New Technic Lego set for 2009 – Dumper Truck (8264)

This new Dumper Truck looks like it'll be the daddy of sets in 2009. It's difficult to tell from the picture how many parts will be in the set but I'd expect about 500 - 800.

From the picture it looks like it'll contain one of the 2008 mechanicle actuators rather than pnumatics. From a larger view it'll also contain some kind of motor. Body panels on the dumper may also be new. The question at the moment is what kind of steering will it have? Will the motor drive the wheels?

Cost may be in the region of £50 - £80. Lego seem to release a reasonably expensive model once a year. The bulldozer being the expensive model in 2008.

The 2-1 logo indicates there's an alternative model to build - in this case it will be a flat bed lorry. No images of it as yet.

New Technic Lego set for 2009 – Quad Bike (8262)

A new Quad Bike for 2009. Slight bigger model than previous 2009 models with slightly more complexity. Lego seem to launch a new quad bike every few years with updated parts.

From the small image o this set it looks like there could be quite a few new parts. The body panels don't look familiar and the suspension looks smaller than has appeared on any model previously.

The 2-1 logo on the box must mean theirs an alternative model but as yet no indication of what it'll be.

As a slightly bigger set price will probably be around £30.

New Technic Lego set for 2009 – Monster Truck (8261)

The new Monster Truck is slightly bigger than the other new releases so far in 2009.

From the size of the photo it look like there may be some new panels but the rest looks fairly normal. Looks like it might have some interesting suspension parts also.

Cost - maybee up to £20

By the small logo just under the age range it looks like a "2-1" model - 2 models for the price of one. Nothing has yet come to light about what the alternative models might be.

Set number 8260 is the 3rd new release in 2009, and also the 3rd small model idea for kids with pocket money.
