Lego have released a new rechargeable battery for it's Power Functions (PF) set of motors and switches. What's unique about this battery box is that it includes a speed controller. This is the first time a battery box has come with any way to change the speed of a motor or the brightness of a lamp.
Like the new IR Remote Control device, it comes as part of the Emerald Night Lego Train Set.
The recharebale battery is also available direct from the Lego shop for £42.09 + P&P. This might seem expensive but think how many batteries you throw away each year!

Lego have launched a new Infra Red Remote Control unit for use with the Power Functions (PF) set of motors and batteries. The controler comes with the new Emerald Night Lego Train set.
What's unusual about this item is that it claims to offer speed control of the motor using other standard parts. If this is true it will be the first Lego Technic item to offer speed adjustment. It looks like you will turn the dials left and right to change the speed and direction.
The controller offers 4 channels, 2 direction switches and 2 emergency stop buttons. Requires 3 AAA batteries (the small ones).
What's even more amazing is it's currently only £10.75 + P&P Direct from the Lego Shop

The new Lego Technic Wheeled Loader is expected in the next second half of 2009. This model appears to be an updated version of the Pneumatic Front End Loader from 1997.
At the front of the new loader there appears to be 3 of the new liniar actuators - 2 to raise the bucket and one to tip. Moving along there's articulated steering - possibly controlled by the gear on the roof. Under the bonnet at the back appears to be a 6 cyclinder engine which is presumably linked to the drive wheels.
No motor in this one so it will be interesting to see how the actuators are powered at the front of the model.
The model is probably one of the longest Lego Technic models of recent years at 47.5cm long.

The new Lego Technic Snow Groomer / Snow Plough should be available by the second half of the year. Price should be around £30, with about 600 parts.
Looks like some new parts with this set shuch as the front dozer section, and the idlers within the tracks.
As with most of the other new sets for 2009 this set will have an alternative model. This is indicated by the 2-1 logo on the box.
This set looks like it will have very few popular parts and more "non-resuable" parts in it than normal sets.
